Girl group 2NE1 has been gaining popularity through their new song that fuses traditional Korean music with modern electronic sounds.

2NE1′s new title song, “I Love You” has ranked high on online music charts such as Melon and Bugs. Their Korean style melody has caught the attention of both young and old audiences.

Their title song, “I Love You,” which was released on July 5, features a mixture of trot and electronic pop. This song talks about a girl who is trying to understand love. The lyrics and sound portray that effect with the ‘trot + pop’ sound.

In particular, this song uses the trot technique of “bending” which gives it more of an Asian feel. However, the song still contains 2NE1′s usual powerful sounds with electronic beats. At the time of their song’s release, there were comments about 2NE1′s music style is hard to understand. However, on July 8 on SBS “Inkigayo” comeback stage, they were able to fully show their new style which gained much attention and support from fans.

“This song sounds familiar, yet distant.” This strange mix of traditional and modern gives the audience’s ears a fresh new twist. This new style of music can be appealing to all ages due to its mix of old and new. 2NE1′s popularity can be seen on the music charts as they make their way up to the top.
